½ cup butter, soft
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
½ teaspoon vanilla
3 ½ cups sifted flour
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
Beat butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until very
light and fluffy! Sift all dry ingredients together and gradually mix into the butter
mixture. Turn dough out onto wax paper. Roll into a log
and chill. Slice cookies into thin
slices and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet in a 375-degree oven for about 9
minutes. Remove at once to cool. Store in an airtight container.
