Oatmeal Scones

1 1/2 cups Old Fashioned Oats, toasted & cooled
1/2 cup half and half
1 egg
Mix these together and set aside.

1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
10 tablespoons diced cold butter

Mix dry ingredients together and then add butter using pastry blender or a fork just until dough resembles cornmeal.  Fold in egg mixture and then with floured hands make a ball out of the dough.  Place ball onto a baking sheet and press it with your hands to make about a 7 inch round scone.  Brush top of the scone with half and half and then sprinkle it with sugar.  Now cut into wedges and bake in a 450 degree oven for 12 - 15 minutes.

Glaze:  Mix together 1/3 cup maple syrup and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until smooth and drizzle over partially cooled scones.

Additional options:  1/2 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 cup finely chopped toasted pecans.
